Introducing Hydra - the new collection

I'm excited to share with you the invitation to the presentation of Hydra. The new collection was created to mark the tenth anniversary of the business.Ten years is an important milestone, and I am very happy. Hydra unveiled for the first time and presented to the public on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the Aragonese Castle of Otranto. Event sponsored by the Municipality of Otranto. The collection The "Hydra" collection, in collaboration with Eugenia Toni, is a tribute to the origins of Otranto and is freely inspired by the etymology of the toponym "Ύδροῡς/Hydruntum".It is made using the lost-wax casting technique, employing a noble material like silver together with pearls and hard stones. Water snake or small river (the Idro) flowing into the sea, sometimes a snake defending the city with its coils, Mercury's caduceus (god of commerce) or a symbolic reference to the Turks threatening the fortress in 1480.The ambivalence of the symbol returns in the figure of Idrusa, a female figure between legend and history masterfully depicted in Maria Corti's famous "L'ora di Tutti" as a restless young woman, unbound by rules, sensual in life but purest at the moment of death. Idrusa is a symbol of a superior femininity with firm principles, contrary to how she was often perceived.And this archetypal and literary duality, magically infused in the stark contrast between light and shadow, winds through the serpentine alleys of the historic center, confuses reality with imagination, and opens the city to the interior and mystical experience of multiple timelines."Hydra" is an invitation to unleash our deepest vital energies, capable of creatively transforming our individuality.
